Touted as "the most fun you'll ever have in the water", Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park offers 25-acres of safe, clean, and very wet family fun. Located 30 minutes west of Waikiki on Oahu's dry leeward coast, it is Hawaii's only waterpark. The park offers a wide array of rides, from the nerve wracking Shaka (a three person raft plunge down a near vertical drop) to the sleep inducing Kapolei Kooler, a lazy tube ride along an 800 foot 'river' that meanders around the park.

The waterpark only opened a few years ago and has quickly taken its place as one of the island's most popular attractions. Any given weekend will find an even mixture of locals and tourists. Most of the rides are fairly tame, though the Shaka is not recommended for those with heart trouble. Use your own judgment.

Families with young children can spend their time in Waterworld, a corner of the park offering a multilevel activity pool, seven different slides (all child-safe), lily pad walks, and other 'mini-attractions'. The Keiki (Hawaiian for 'children') Cove is also tailored for the very young 'uns, featuring mini-slides, floating animals, and 'water cannons'. Other attractions will require you be of a certain height (usually 48 inches). Examples are the Waianae Coaster, a series of four double-tube water slides spiraling down the nearby cliff face, The Cliffhanger (another one not for the faint of heart), a seven story free fall down two speed slides, and the Big Kahuna, a three person raft ride (that terms is used lightly) down a twisting river.

Besides its water fun the park also offers an array of other entertainment to fill your day, including a video arcade, a musical stage featuring performances of local music groups, and a full food court offering mostly fast food and snacks.
